"Every child is a different kind of flower, and all together, make this world a beautiful garden."

- SOMEONE ONCE SAID

About us

The Growing Garden is a place where children can find safety, knowledge, love, and support outside of the home throughout their growing years. Our center is founded on the principles of honesty, respect, responsibility, kindness, and gratefulness. Growing up in the local community, our staff sees a need for a place where children can be children. A place where they can find solace and fun from the chaos of the world. The creation of a safe haven where the imagination can grow wild and friendships can be built is our primary goal. We help our children to set goals and attain them through support and fun.

Our family atmosphere is a unique element that can only be found at The Growing Garden. Customers and community members often hear our staff members speak about "our kids". We see all of our little customers as more than just a job - they are a member of our family. Our staff is in tune to the thoughts and emotions of all our kids. Each staff member plays a duel role as both teacher and counselor. We are here to support and teach our children to become productive community members for the future.

Ms. Heather,
Owner/Director

In 2012, I was offered a position working at a local childcare facility with school aged children after 5 years of teaching high school and never looked back. Since the opening of The Growing Garden, my endeavor to build a safe haven for all children who seek it has expanded into many different parts of the childcare industry. I hold a bachelor's degree in secondary education, a master's degree in special education, an Infant/Toddler Mental Health Certification, occupy a seat on the OCDEL State Advisory Council Subcommittee for Access to Programs, a childcare advocate and Teach Plus Fellow, and sit on the committee to review the OCDEL Champions in Equity Awards. I strive to create an atmosphere where all children and staff have the opportunity to grow into the best version of themselves. A country girl at heart, I love animals and nature and hope to bring that awareness of the world around us to each of our children.

Instructional I Substitute/Health Coach

I initially assisted my daughter with the building of The Growing Garden, but after retiring from my primary job, I decided to join the staff as the unofficial facility grandma. After 30+ years in the healthcare industry, I also act as a health coach for the staff focusing on issues such as medication information, best health practices, and review of training of special healthcare needs of the children or staff. I also hold trainings to help ease any concern about outbreaks in the community and assist with the procurement of assistant technology and supplies for children while in care. My goal is to help to keep everyone safe, healthy, and confident in their responsibilities while coming in and creating chaos with the children.
